In 1962 he was admitted to Prof. David Oistrach's violinclass in the Moscow Conservatory ( Academy), which he graduated from in 1967. The examination was passed by him excellently with the final and definitive mark: very good. With this he obtained qualification degree of concert- musical performance executor - solist, solo - performator/performer, and of lecturer post of Musical University School. During his years of study he was the concertmaster in the chamber orchestra of Moscow Conservatory. This led him to Berlin in 1964, where the ensamble won the Karajan Competition. In 1968 Igor Chaczbabian moved to Kiev and worked as teaching assistant for Prof. A. Gorochov. He postgraduated in 1970 obtaining the degree of a D.M.A.( Doctor of Musical Arts). As a violinsoloist he took part in a number of competitions, amongst others was the winner of the national soviet violin mastership in 1968. He received state prizes from the Ukraine and other countries in the Soviet Union, as well as, from the International Artists Alliance in USA. After these honours he was invited to play as a soloist in 23 countries - from Europe via Egypt to the United States of America. In 1970 he was nominated as a professor for the Kiev Conservatory. Two years later he moved to Poland, to teach at the Poznan Academy of Music. In 1982, together with his Polish wife Anna Strzalkowska, he moved to Egypt. He was invited to work as an expert in violin teaching at the Music Academy of Cairo. In this period he was also concertmaster and soloist for the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. In 1989 he came to Norway and was engaged by the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Group as second concertmaster.
